KumbuKumbu, translated to English as 'Memory' is a 60-second-bite sized magic realism film. It encompasses the journey of Aleysha as she journeys through her mind to find the lost memory of her sister using a toy she gave her, from her childhood to access those memories.
A journey into Mobile Filmmaking
This marked my first venture into mobile filmmaking, utilizing a basic gimbal and an iPhone 8. The entire narrative was conceived and filmed within a single week, with only one actress and the Kiagraohy crew. Despite its simplicity, this project became one of our initial Kiagraphy efforts to be submitted to film festivals. We were pleasantly surprised by its success, receiving multiple selections and earning notable recognition as a Semi-Finalist at ESMoA in California, US.
Interesting fact: Due to a lack of actors, I stepped in to be the silhouette version of her sister!
